Arch Street, The Greenwich Teen Center

From Diana...With love

Joining Ross on stage for a moment in the spotlight was her son, Evan Naess, 15. Naess belted out a song while mom watched on proudly.

Ross reaches out and touches town in concert to benefit teen center

More than 2,000 fans enjoyed the recent Diana Ross concert at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park. For 90 Song-filled minutes, Ross, the epitome of a diva, sang nearly two dozen songs from a career that has spanned some 40 years. And making the night even more special was that it doubled as a benefit for Arch Street, the Greenwich teen center. About 400 seats for the show sold for between $250 and $1,000, with proceeds going to Arch Street. (Ross' two children from her second marriage, Evan and Ross Naess, are active at the teen center, which was one of the reasons for holding the benefit concert.)

In addition to Ross, many were involved in making the evening a success including the Police and Fire departments and the Town's Department of Parks and Recreation, according to Kyle Silver, Arch Street's executive director.

"Everyone I called was incredibly helpful in offering their services for the event, " says Silver.

Silver also singled out an Arch Street neighbor for Special Thanks.

"I was amazed when the De la mar Hotel offered 10 rooms to accommodate the band and Diana's family," Silver says. "They even donated the use of The Presidential Suite for Diana and an adjoining suite for her costume designer."

The hotel, Silver adds, went above and beyond the call of duty.

"I remember it was the peak of dinner and their restaurant (L'Escale) was packed due to reservations hoping to hear the concert from their terrace," silver says. "someone had forgot to arrange dinner for the band and I called them with 10 minutes notice and they pulled it together. All of this... and they completely donated everything."
